The Department of Agrarian Reform through Project ConVERGE, with the Local Government Unit of Placer, Surigao del Norte inaugurated and turned-over a P2.59M worth of additional facility for the bio-fertilizer warehouse in Brgy. Mabini last June 20, 2022.

The facility is expected to boost the operation of the project’s Coconet and Biofertilizer Enterprise in the Surigao del Norte cluster, where most areas were affected by Typhoon Odette last December 2021.

Damages to production area were estimated at P20.8M, and P300,000 for the value chain facilities and equipment.

Agrarian Reform Assistant Regional Director and Project ConVERGE Assistant Project Director Engr. Daylinda Narisma challenged the ARBOs to sustain the enterprise and optimize the use of its facilities to help improve the lives of the farmers, especially those affected by the calamity.

The Mabini United Farmers’ Cooperative (MAUNFACO), Lead Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organization of the cluster and recipient of the additional warehouse pledged to work harder to further improve their enterprise.

According to MAUNFACO BOD Chairperson Mercy Egos, the ARBO will continue to move forward and collaborate with its partners and stakeholders.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Elizabeth de Guzman of Surigao del Norte also acknowledged the assistance of the Local Government Unit of Placer, highlighting their significant contribution in the completion of the facility.

Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Hon. Ryan Fel Napuli assured the continued support of LGU Placer in the realization of the activities of Project ConVERGE and DAR.

The provision of rural infrastructure facilities is among the major objectives of Project ConVERGE in support to its value chain enterprises, as funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the Philippine Government.
