The Convergence on Value Chain Enhancement for Rural Growth and Empowerment (Project ConVERGE) – Provincial Project Management Office of Agusan del Norte conducted a training on Basic Accounting Non-Accountants (BANA) on the Context of Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Standards last March 4-6, 2020 at Balanghai Hotel, Butuan City.

Participants to the said training were officials from the five participating Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs) of the province namely: Malambuong Kausa sa Kababayen-on sa San Isidro ARB Cooperative (MAKAKASI ARB Coop) , Hinimbangan Farmers’ Association ARB Cooperative, Zapanta Valley Bisaya Organization (ZaVBiOr), Bangayan Lakeview Association ARB Cooperative (BLAARBC) and Cadahondahonan Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Cooperative (CARBC).

The objectives of the said activity are to train the participants on the following topics: Cooperative Accounting, Basic Accounting Concepts and Procedures, Accounting as an Aid to Decision Making, Philippine Financial Reporting Framework for Cooperatives and The Accounting Cycle.

During the workshops, the participants were required to fill up financial information in the different books of accounts and part of the training output is the Interim Financial Statements for CY 2019.

According to Agusan del Norte Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer and Provincial Project Director Andre B. Atega, “ang kooperatiba o asosasyon kinahanglan na adunay proper financial recoding aron makita kung ang usa ka negosyo milambo ba. Dapat pud makabalo ta kung unsaon pag monitor ug pag han-ay sa financial na aspeto sa kooperatiba o asosasyon ” (The cooperative and association is in need of proper financial recording in order to identify if a business will be able to prosper. We also need to know how to monitor and organize the financial aspects of our cooperative or organization)

“Dako ang tabang ani nga training para namo aron ma han-ay namo among financial statement ug uban nga mga financial na aspeto sa cooperative” (This training is a big help for us to prepare our financial statements and other financial aspects of the cooperative), said Mrs. Rosita A. Llamera, Chairman of MAKAKASI Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative.
